Frankly it doesn't matter who we get in -- the important thing is getting better players. I'm talking of a hole new spine from GK to CF. Brands let us down big style over the summer. I just hope he's got a few lined up for January. If not we're down.

Why aren't Arsenal after him?

Because Allegri and Pochettino are available and, with respect to Howe, they are far more suited to the expectations at Arsenal than he is.

Arsenal's expectations right now, far outweigh our own. We aren't a club who expect to compete for the top four, or even the top six. We aren't a club who expect to compete for silverware each year or be in european competition each year.

Arsenal are. Their expectations are far greater than our own. This is important.

Did Spurs lose his number?

See above. Mourinho was available and, as a serial winner and one of the greatest managers of all time, was more suited to the expectations of Spurs who expect to compete at the highest level.

Now, to an extent, I can understand the idea of 'dress for the job you want, rather than the one you have' but, let's be realistic, we're shopping in Burtons rather than Saville Row.

I don't think other options will come, only Moyes and Rafael are realistic candidates we can try. No other decent options will come during mid-season.

He said this week he was interested in talking to clubs.

Probably, wisely, doesn't want to discount any opportunities that may come his way.

But there's a difference between interested and actively looking. Managers, by and large, quite enjoy a bit of time off and many take sabbaticals to spend time with family before their next project.

He could have had the Bayern job and didn't, I still think he will have been advised to wait for the Madrid, PSG, City or United jobs, at least one of which is likely to come up in the next 12 months - and he would be a prime candidate for.

He could have his pick, why would he choose to throw his lot in with us. It defies logic.

Rafael, won trophies at Valencia, Chelsea, Napoli and Liverpool. People need to get over the fact he managed LFC and look at his record. At Newcastle he never had a penny to spend as well as a falling out with the owner. He did well keeping them up and well away from relegation.

Where he is in Chinese league is irrelevant, it’s a joke league for managers to go and earn big money whilst doing the bear minimum.

Moshiri has to know that this "well we reached for the stars but we got a fantastic man in Moyes" thing would be the end of him, right? Drumming up big names only to appoint a crap one like last time... There's only so much goodwill before everyone is tired of a clueless owner.
