It's certainly not my argument but plenty of games have been lost in sports because of poor first half performances. If the Chiefs had lost it would have been due to a very slow start because they finished much the stronger team.
The niners didn't make the most of the fact it took KC about 25 minutes to get going. They should have been more than 10 ahead. And then their defence didn't make any plays after they were up a field goal in the 4th and in OT.

Neither team played close to their best but the niners weren't good enough and Shanahan didn't have a good enough gameplan. The play calling after half time was dreadful with the 6 straight passes for 2 three and outs.

I think Shanahan will have his day still, but even if he doesn’t the takeaway from losing with Jimmy G and now Purdy in the SB should be that he’s an amazing coach. He’s needed his QB to make one play over two Super Bowl’s to win and neither has been able to do it.

SF not being up more was the real issue. Same as with the Ravens last week, you’re going to get long stretches of nothing from the Chiefs offense and they didn’t take advantage of it.
Mahomes ensures proper credit will never be given, but KC probably put the best run of defense on the way to a title together since the 2015 Broncos or maybe the 2018 Pats.
