If you read that article properly you would see that she is in fact arguing that nfl players would transition not only within 6 months but pretty much immediatelyA pretty poor article, but I certainly don't disagree that NFL players are on another level athletically and also tactically, I think the scots fella who coached the brotherly shove said similar and he has coaching eperience in both sports.
What the article doesn't say is what you said, that in 6 months of training a group of NFL players could beat any rugby team in the world. No group of players could beat the best team in the world in a sport they have never played in 6 months. If the states threw their weight behind rugby and resources into with their college system and a few patriotic deep fried eagles on posters I'm sure they would become a force, but that is a lifetime of work.
You are being very silly indeed.

I've read it, and even getting beyond what feels like an axe to grind style article with reductionist thinking, at no point can I ser her stating that NFL players would not only be able to transition immediately, but as you insist could produce an entire team of NFL players to beat any rugby team in the world immediately. Please see the quote below from the article. If you read that article properly you would see that she is in fact arguing that nfl players would transition not only within 6 months but pretty much immediately
The transition to a less physical form of tackling would take some time but a full transition wouldn’t occur. Instead, I believe if American football players started playing rugby, they’d change the game to suit themselves and everyone else would have to adjust.I've read it, and even getting beyond what feels like an axe to grind style article with reductionist thinking, at no point can I ser her stating that NFL players would not only be able to transition immediately, but as you insist could produce an entire team of NFL players to beat any rugby team in the world immediately. 'Spend a decade transitioning some of the top high school running backs into a backline and some handy linebackers into a scrum and they’d be away running with the World Cup. While we as a country might be too insecure to admit it, we should just be grateful that America will probably never care enough about rugby to try.'
In fact, the article seems to be an argument against your assertion.
That doesn't look like the word 'immediately' to meThe transition to a less physical form of tackling would take some time but a full transition wouldn’t occur. Instead, I believe if American football players started playing rugby, they’d change the game to suit themselves and everyone else would have to adjust.
All right what about this then:That doesn't look like the word 'immediately' to me
Again, I don't see the word immediately, I'm not sure why you are desperately pursuing this lost cause and pretending the article says something it doesn't.All right what about this then:
American football players are already more athletic than rugby players across the board and have all the necessary skills it takes to be great rugby players. Why? Because there aren’t many skills. Catching, passing, kicking, spatial awareness, movement off the ball. They’re all skills required in a number of other sports, and to a higher degree. Few top athletes in other codes would require additional skills to play rugby. Any AFL player could beat the best rugby player under a high ball. Wide receivers would be just fine.
Fair enoughAgain, I don't see the word immediately, I'm not sure why you are desperately pursuing this lost cause and pretending the article says something it doesn't.
I'll leave it there as you are clearly as mad as a window and this is boring now, for what its worth I'd love to see a big smile on Andy Reid's face at the super bowl.
I'd guess receiver. Not many backs are 6'3.I wonder what position he is planning to train for. Running back?
Tight end. No idea who this guy is but assuming he can put on 20-25 pounds that’s where the rugby skills probably translate best given his size.I'd guess receiver. Not many backs are 6'3.
What game and who should I bet on?One of the guys I work with is an NFL referee. He’s back on the schedule this coming weekend after having last weekend off
He's not big enough. 6'3 maybe 200 to 210. He's lightning fast though so that's really his ticket. If he's fast enough at his size to be a problem on the outside he might hang around long enough to learn the sport. Otherwise he's gone quick.Tight end. Haha. What game and who should I bet on?
