Same here, Sunday Evenings are boss

Redzone is great.

Last year I started watching all the college stuff too before boxing was on of a Saturday night, it’s interesting to know that some of these will be stars/flopping in the NFL in future. Wonder how this year’s first rounders will do, surely Baker Mayfield gets the job sooner rather than later, I hope Rosen flops the big Tory, Barkley is special, look at me going on as if I have a clue, anyway, see ya down the beach.

To borrow a quote from Patrick Roy, Aikman can’t hear what some bitter Buffalo radio guy says because he has the two Super Bowl rings he won against the Bills plugging his ears.

That's a pretty amazing stat. Almost identical passer ratings for their careers too.

Adding into what snouts is saying, it’s amazing both in how interesting and useless the stat is. The dudes played in different eras, and Troy had Emmitt for 11 years, which consumed something along the lines of 3500 snaps, 15,000 rushing yards, and 145 TDs. Maybe Troy wouldn’t have 3 rings if he played today, but I think he’d have decent numbers.

Aikman, in 12 years won 3 Super Bowls, was Super Bowl MVP, and is a 6 time Pro-Bowl player.
Fitzpatrick in 14 years has never played in the playoffs once, and has never been selected to the Pro-Bowl

Ergo, Aikman is a first ballet HoF guy, and Fitzpatrick is a "feel good story at 35" that may lose his job in a couple weeks (but probably shouldn't).

Fitzpatrick's winning percentage is no where near close to Aikman's.
Aikmen played with one of the 3 greatest RB's to play the game who holds the NFL all time record for yards gained and touchdowns scored, arguably one of the top 5 WR's to play the game, was protected by one of the most dominate O-Lines littered with Pro-Bowl (and I'd guess some HoF players too) and had good defenses with all Pro's.
Fitz played with..well, teams that almost always had a top 5 pick in the draft....

Just goes to show you how much weight the HoF, and frankly we fans see/remember players who won championships, vs those who toiled on poor teams and badly manged franchises. I never would have dreamed their career stats are so similar, that's eye-opening!

Takeo Spikes was nominated for the HoF, but probably wont make it. His stats put him among the best of the best, for 15 years at LB. But he only made 2 Pro Bowls and holds the record for most games played without a playoff appearance, 260 or something. Doubt he gets in, similar to the Fitz/Aikman comparison. (Full disclosure Takeo played at Auburn, and is still close to the program, so I'm a homer, but the point remains)
