Maybe Troy wouldn’t have 3 rings if he played today, but I think he’d have decent numbers.
Fair point. And if Minnesota had made a trade with Bills that amounted to 15+ players and draft picks (Hershel Walker) maybe the Bills could have built a dynasty from scratch like Aikman's Cowboys did. Location Location Location. Timing is everything. And such :)

It’s best to be lucky, but lucky and bad doesn’t get you three rings. Only 3 QBs have more rings than him. There’s only a handful with fewer rings I’d consider in his class. Maybe that’s just me.

Oh, and the Bills has decent teams too, they were boss on Tecmo Super Bowl.

Oh, and Emmitt was 1.17 and Darren Woodson was #37 (2.05?)

I think he was a very good QB and deserves his HoF, no argument. But he was fortunate to be where he was. If Barry Sanders and Emmitt swapped teams, Emmit would still be a great NFL back, but Barry Sanders would have rushed for 20,000-25,000 yards. But Barry Sander's had the Lion's offensive line, which is why he rushed for like 15,000 yards, but 18,000 of those were after contact! Ok, so maybe that's slightly fabricated, but I digress....

Emmitt was a battering ram, he shouldn’t be sold short. At this rate, they were all average NFL talents and just very lucky to win 3 rings.

Personally I always thought Smith should never have been in the same conversation with Sanders. Barry was and remains the best running back I have ever seen.

Smith, Aikman, Irvin etc all benefitted from a stacked team on both sides of the ball. Just like the 49ers they benefitted from pre-salary cap era. As did the Bills.

You missing my point I think, or more likely I'm making it poorly.

I'm saying it was a couple teams with some of the best players at their positions, not only of their generation, but ever. Irvin, Emmitt, Aikman, Darrell "Moose" Johnston, Nate Newton, Kevin Gogan, Erik Williams. Alvin Harper, Jay Novecek...and that's just offensive players I can remember. Those guys all (most anyway) had equal peers on poor teams that won't ever get the recognition those guys got, period. However, it takes nothing away from how great they all were, and how fortuitous there were to have those teammates. When you look back at what a collection of talent they had early-mid 90's, it's almost amazing they ever lost 3-4 games per year.

The only thing I have against Emmitt, is he went to Florida over Auburn, dammit, even tho Escambia (Pensacola area) is closer to Auburn than Gainsville! He never beat Auburn in the 3 years he was a UF, and Auburn lost 5 games those 3 years. If if if, we had got him, we might well have won a couple national championships. He is one of those very few "can't miss" high school kids, who lived up to the hype to become a "can't miss" college kid, who lived up to the hype and shattered every rushing record in NFL history in the process. I have been an Emmitt fan since I first became aware of his exploits as a junior or senior in high school.

Unrelated, we got upset in the first round of the playoffs my senior year in HS. If we had won, we would have played against some team in south Mississippi that had a decent quarterback that had committed to Southern Mississippi where a couple of my teammates were going to play. Brett Favor, Bert Favre or something like that.... We all finished our high school football careers that year, and 2 of the 3 of us went on to NFL HoF careers. The other played intramural football and flunked freshman comp at junior college...sorry, old man rambling :)
