Mahomes often held the ball late, looking for the deep ball in the final quarter and threw ints. Since plays have multi reads, while the primary read might've been "look for the chunk play", there's also going to be shorter and safer options and the QB needs to make those throws when the big play isn't there. In college with Mahomes' huge arm and the often horrendous defense in the Big 12 he could more often get away with those throws. But in the faster NFL, even a subpar secondary like the Rams will make him pay.

Sure even the greats like Rodgers, Brady, will take some ill advised shots at times. But they're usually more discerning in their decision making, as they understand the time and place for it. Plus Mahomes likely has been spoiled but how many freaking times Tyreek runs free thru the defense because he's inhumanly fast, thinking he can get the big play more often than it's realistic.

In Mahomes’ defense, his arm was hit as he threw one of those late interceptions and the pass fluttered on him... and the other was with about 25 seconds left with no timeouts and miles to go to reach field goal range. He really had to throw deep and hope for something good to happen there.

He looked pretty good to me for a kid with less than 12 starts under his belt on his second near-win tortuous road game. He'll be ok.


*Not that he can likely take an Andy Reid team to the heights of winning, but Reid will be gone within 3 years and he'll have his chance then.
 

Yup, all those calling Mahomes out here need to just calm down. He's only played in 12 games like. He is the absolute star of the future - him and Goff. The Brady and Manning of the next ten years. He will learn from those mistakes last night.

I thought RG3 was going to be the next big thing a couple of years back..

This is a tough position to flourish in.

Yeah not saying its easy. But watching him sometimes he makes it LOOK easy. Of course having Tyreek Hill their, who is just brilliant, helps. Still, it insanely fun to watch. Im sure Im not alone in this, but my picks for the two championships games:

Steelers at Chiefs
Rams at Saints

Not at all . I think it has something to do with Brady eventually getting old . It’s got to happen sooner or later .
 
Even though it's swings and roundabouts in the nfl...somethings will remain the same...Patriots will there in the end and the Chiefs will choke in the playoffs
