Yeah Tom you're never wrong so anyone saying anything you don't think automatically is in your fun world.I have this rule where I dont argue with idiots as they tend to drag me down to their level and then beat me with experience.
Make of that what you will
And ironically, got his 2nd Superbowl as a bad QB on a great Denver defense.Hard disagree about Manning, and I’m a lifelong University of Tennessee fan, so I watched his entire career. He was always a guy who saved his best for when it mattered the least. He spent years padding stats and racking up records against crap teams, but against the best competition, he often lacked the ability to play within himself. He was constantly guilty of trying too hard in the biggest games, oftentimes to the detriment of his teams.
I appreciate his playoff struggles color people one way but I just don't remember anyone being as scary as he was for awhile and often before QBs dominated like they do now. As I said Rodgers is the best I think I've ever seen and his playoff record is really not on him in the way Manning's was because his defense has constantly let him down.Hard disagree about Manning, and I’m a lifelong University of Tennessee fan, so I watched his entire career. I was glad to see him get that second ring, but he wasn’t even recognizable as the QB he had once been by the time he got to Denver. His body just let him down late in his career. And ironically, got his 2nd Superbowl as a bad QB on a great Denver defense.
Ultimately I find declaring one player the best ever to be a tedious thing. I mean it started in basketball with Jordon and he's still there but what if LeBron does win two more titles? Why can we just not do this all the time?
I mean I'm not exactly saying he isn't an all time great, but also he was 3 rings in before he was even a top 10 QB in the league.Tom has won too many times for it to be a coincidence surely
His playoff struggles were only a further confirmation of what I kind of already knew. I’m definitely not still bitter about those ‘96 and ‘97 games against Florida, lol. The only two games during his junior and senior years where we faced a team with equal or better talent, and he laid eggs in both. In typical Manning style, I’m sure you’d look at the box score and think he played great, but actually just had a bunch of passing yards and TD’s because we were playing from behind the whole game in large part because of mistakes by him that buried us in the first half.I appreciate his playoff struggles color people one way but I just don't remember anyone being as scary as he was for awhile and often before QBs dominated like they do now. Even if the rings aren't enough of an argument, the ability to constantly remain healthy, maintain the drive, keep on top of the numerous plays throughout 20 years and on top of tthat the awareness not to take the big money and let it be shared for the betterment of the team.Tom has won too many times for it to be a coincidence surely
This is what I mean when I say make the argument without the titles driving it.Even if the rings aren't enough of an argument, the ability to constantly remain healthy, maintain the drive, keep on top of the numerous plays throughout 20 years and on top of tthat the awareness not to take the big money and let it be shared for the betterment of the team.
The debate has long since been over.
When comparing QB’s across eras, I do think it’s important to acknowledge the effect rule changes have on things like this. His ability to play into his mid-40’s would have been impossible in any era other than the current one where it’s essentially illegal to breathe heavily on a QB. No way a guy as immobile as him last 20 years in the Marino/Elway era.Even if the rings aren't enough of an argument, the ability to constantly remain healthy, maintain the drive, keep on top of the numerous plays throughout 20 years and on top of tthat the awareness not to take the big money and let it be shared for the betterment of the team.

The funny thing is I don't think there is much of an argument for Elway being better than Marino but most would make it anyway. When comparing QB’s across eras, I do think it’s important to acknowledge the effect rule changes have on things like this.
