Possibly wishful thinking on Blackmon's part. A lot of ex-OK State players at Dallas.

You're likely correct. Justin will be very welcome back here. He's been his own worst enemy, but we're ready to help him here if he's ready.

Nobody ever said he couldn't play. He can absolutely play, and I hope he's gotten in some kind of condition to return.

WOW. Chris Borland has retired from the NFL. He's 24 years old and was impressive in his rookie season for the 49ers last year. He is retiring because of fear of head injuries.

Maurice Clarett with some very interesting and insightful comments on Borland's retirement, and Adam Schefter made one which, at least out of context, seems very shallow:

many more very interesting and provocative comments by Clarett. Adam Schefter, on the other hand...

Fair play to him. It's sad to see so many suffering through concussions.

Wes Welker, my favourite Pat (Till he got off like), is never going to be the same because of the amount of concussions he's suffered. Just retire Wes ffs, for your own sake.

But on the other hand, Niners, what's happening ? Tipped them to bounce back and potential make the SuperBowl.

This is one of the most obnoxious arguments I've seen about this kind of thing. It comes off as, "Your life is worth a specific amount of money, and if you choose not to throw it away when we give you that money, then you are stupid." It's nearly as bad as the people calling him a coward.

The truth is that the NFL is a bloodsport. That is clearer with every study on the long term effects of head trauma. It disgusts me that people look down on someone for not wanting to sacrifice themselves for the entertainment of the masses.

The Niners appear to be in complete meltdown mode...I love it :D

Losing a ton of players...a coaching staff that is inexperienced at best. I laughed and cringed so hard during Tomsula's press conference.

What irks me even more about this (granted, may be taking Schefter fully out of context; also may be assumed by your comment) is that Borland is ungrateful for the opportunity he was given, and he should thank the league and owners for even granting him the chance to make this much money.

I'm sure that if you proposed it that way Scheffer would not agree, but his statement isn't much better.

You guys should see what the internet weapons on their message board are saying.

I think the 'he's being selfish' argument is my favorite one.

Yeah, I think fans and the media surrounding sports often lose sight of the fact that it's a game. It's for entertainment. If it disappears tomorrow it's not that big of a deal.

I love sports. I like following sports in general, even sports I don't watch much, I'll watch on tv. I'll root for rando teams if I stumble into seeing sport. But it's just not that damn important. And this guy said, "Ya know what, the risks of this career outweigh the benefits."

The [Poor language removed]. He's clearly screwing over the billionaire philanthropists that own the team and the fans that would hurl abuse at him and cheer him being cut at the first sign of his failure and foibles. How dare he not dance to our whims!
