NHL

Nearly 30 years later and still can’t believe my Isles beat the Penguins in ‘93.
Below is one of my favorite players and perhaps the best player not in the Hall of Fame. Here’s a clue—-screw Dale Hunter

Good one, I had to Google it FFS...PT! I'm bad with the Isles, can only ever remember LaFontaine and Trottier for some reason.

One of my girlfriend's cousins lives in Canada. Apparently, there's a small team in Everton, Ontario called "Everton Fortitude". I asked my gf to ask her cousin for a bit more info - any logos etc.

When I say "small" I mean no online presence, they're amateurs who play in front of a man and his dog in some small rented rink (a bit like us circa 2035). I asked for a logo a few weeks ago, and it took ages to hear back. But here it is...

Not impressed TBH. Was expecting a snarling royal blue panther or something.... instead we get a "royal green" (?) and white thing with a clover leaf. What are we, Panathinaikos?? Apparently it's a nod to the Irish ancestry of the Guelph/Eramosa region where Everton is situated. Meh....

Oh well, hopefully they'll somehow get promoted about 25 levels through the various Canadian leagues and reach the NHL some day. Then I'll have something else to stress about.

Anyone see this guy play in his prime? Kind of a polarising figure I would guess, but redefined the power forward position - league had never seen anything like him. Big, fast, skilled, and mean up until the injuries and concussions.

I did see a couple of Flyers games in 00, but can't recollect if he was on the ice - was his last season in Philly and he was struggling with concussions even before Scott Stevens buried him in the playoffs.

Yes, definitely. EL.
Funny story he actually made a drunken pass at my cousin at a bar in Philly

Definitely polarizing. The game has moved more skill/possession oriented since these days, and he definitely had the skill to play in the current league but I could never figure out if he was good or not.

With Lindros, I mainly remember he didn't fully live up to the hype.

He was an absolute monster in NHL95 iirc
Started his career on track to be an all time great and absolutely slayed.

Fourth fastest player to 300 and then 400pts (behind Gretsky, Lemieux, Peter Stastny)
Fifth fastest to 500 pts (them plus Bossy)
Sixth fastest to 600 pts (them plus Jari Kurri)

But then yeah he was ended by injuries - even the massive hits that laid him out were on top of consistent injury issues from playing the way he did. So very much a question of what might have been.
