@SerenityNigh, I mean, you have to try and trade Jamie Benn after that, don't you? See if a team like Chicago who isn't ready to compete yet and really needs NHL caliber players will eat the last year of his deal and use the cap space on someone else? That's the second deep playoff run on his record where in the end, he completely went missing (zero goals in the 2020 finals) or actively hurt the team (this series).
No movement clause and wears the C. I don’t know what the answer is but he’s more problem than solution. But generally I agree.
The guys on the set afterward noted that they won both games he missed and lost all 4 with him on the ice. Also, their view was the Stars list that series in games 2/3, which is hard to argue against.
I guess the easiest solution is to take the C away, but I bet he would sulk about it and his on-ice performance would suffer. Buying him out isn’t a great idea either. It wouldn’t save all that much money. At least he doesn’t have what, four years left like Tyler Seguin?
Seguin has had a hard road back from injury but still costs 2x value. Benn easily costs 4x value. But 2 years for Benn Lindell and Suter and 1 more for Colin Miller in addition to 4 for Seguin. It’s a mess. Good news is they have young talent to add: Harley who was great in the playoffs, Stankoven, Bourque. But unless they can roll off some of this dead weight, and Suter and Lindell are as bad as Benn, then it will be 3 years before they can step up.
Thank you @RAFUH!
Opening night for the NHL!
Who does everyone like?
Went to the Caps last preseason game on Friday. I’m not sure if he was out of shape, hungover or what but Ovechkin looked miles off it
