Doesn't sound like a very good deal for Londoners.

But it is. If you had a whole infrastructure where only those who made money kept money, the nation would be a mess. There would be a worse health service, the nation would be more susceptible to illness, their would be raised crime levels, their would be less investment from abroad. The list goes on.

All these things also link in with the EU.

And that is the other thing. Some of the people representing UKIP are absolutely awful. Godfrey Bloom for instance, or the bloke that thought the floods were due to gay marriage. They kinda render you speechless.

And that's why right-of-centre parties will almost always struggle to form governments when the religious element opens its yap.

Strange isn't it? I'd always thought that libertarians were liberal socially, but free marketers economically.

We are, for the most part. But it's often not as cut-and-dried as that, especially when you look at a society, like England, that has had decades of a welfare system that often acts as a disincentive to work. I've always believed the dole is a much-needed safety net, but it should act as a supplement for an able-bodied person's income, not all of it. And when you get people coming to the UK (or Canada, for that matter) who do nothing but take advantage of the welfare and health system (and there are plenty of those who do, before the do-gooders start clearing their throats), it gives rise to parties like UKIP and the BNP, basically born out of the frustration the average working stiff sees as his tax money being pissed away.

Surely it's easier therefore to change what you can control rather than what you can't? If people are coming here (and evidence doesn't suggest they are btw) for health/welfare tourism, then you change the rules regarding who can get welfare? That seems a lot easier than trying to micromanage who can and cannot enter the country.

Yeah man they don't like uncontrolled immigration.

Rraaaaaaaacist.

Come on nige.

It misses the point though surely? Mistaking symptoms and causes. People coming here and working aren't a problem, are they? People that come to England and doss possibly are. That's probably the case whatever the nationality though, so why not focus on what is at the root of it all (ie the benefits system) and less on the nationality of those able to claim it?

A part of me can't help but like Farage. He's like that racist, crackpot uncle we all have.

Totally out of touch with the modern world, shirks from his job, most likely computer illiterate, but has his charm.

Personally, I believe that people who refer to the uk as England have underlying feelings of aggrievement at a lack of national identity.
