2018/19 Nikola Vlasic

I don’t think he’d get near the side.

People saying he’s scored v Real Madrid in the CL, but then as was pointed out to me, Shrokdan Mustafi has won the World Cup and is crap.

One swallow doesn’t make a summer etc.

Vadis Odijidja Ofoe has also scored against Real Madrid. It's mad how much stock people put in one goal.

I see Vlasic has tipped Liverpool to win the Champions League and states everyone outside the top 6 doesnt play good attacking football which is what he wants.

Lad comes across a total beaut and I hope we cash in whilst his stock is high as he never looked anything special when given a chance at the club whereas the likes of Keane and Lookman all shown small glimpses of some sort of ability.
You ain't winning nothing with Klopp in charge.

“In the Premier League, only the top five or six teams, managed by foreigners like Klopp or Guardiola, play great football,” said Vlasic.

“The others think only about defending, focusing on the physical aspect. That’s not how I want to play.”

Sour grapes much, Nicole?
He played under koeman and allardyce.

Think he got his idea pretty spot on tbh

The funny thing is we've done him a massive favor. We could have told him that despite being 4th choice we needed to keep him just in case we had an injury crisis and wasted another year of his career. Instead he's been sent to a pretty decent club that will only benefit him. Not to mention he'd probably still be playing Croatia or some other lesser place had Koeman not fallen in love with him initially. He can do one now.
No, he wouldn't. :D He is one of the most talented players from Croatia in last decade, which usually means that teams like Everton (with all do respect to your famous club) are just a stop-by on his way to the best European clubs.

Since it is obvious that most of you didn't actually watch his CL matches, I would like to inform you that he wasn't just a scorer in these games but best player on the pitch. Also, many players score or assist in CL matches, even vs Real, but only 11 can be in CL lineup of the week. He did it twice so far.

You may be right. But when Everton signed him I had never heard of him even after we had just played his club home and away and I don't remember us really having to compete for his signature. So I'm not so sure he would have been on his way to Madrid or Munich or something like that had we not stepped in first.

He had an offer from PL a year before he went to Everton but his father refused it because he thought Nikola was too young to play PL. Hajduk would accept that offer if Vlasics said yes. He was already one of the best players in Croatian league which is not strong but has many young players who signed for solid European clubs like Everton. In Croatian U-21 team there are players from Roma, Udinese, Milan, Wolfsburg etc and he is best player by far. So, there's no chance that he would still be in Hajduk or some lesser team if Everton didn't sign him.

That's fine. Underage football ultimately means very little. He wasn't very good last year for us and he hasn't lit the world on fire in Russia either. A goal against Madrid is great but it doesn't mean he is a top class player either. My point wasn't that he'd still be in Croatia as much as Everton were probably about as good as he could hope for to come and get him and he has gone and burned bridges. Otherwise he probably would have either been still waiting in Croatia for an offer or ended up somewhere like CSKA which isn't a better spot to be even if they are in the CL.

Look at someone like Lookman. Everton look to loan him and he ends up in a German club who have finished in the European places 2 years running. Vlasic ends up playing in the 7th best league in Europe. Lookman for all his pouting ends up back in the team. At the moment I can't see Vlasic having the same chance and the evidence suggests he isn't even as good a player. He hasn't been particularly smart here.

He is pretty much spot on though
This.

He hasn't said anything that isn't true or that 99% of Evertonians weren't saying themselves last season. In fact, we were probably the most negative team in the whole league. People having a go at him for what he has said need to have a word with themselves. Nothing is really untoward. As far as I can tell he hasn't slagged off the club or the fans or our manager.

He isn't good enough for us this season; if he was here he'd have had as much game time as Kieran Dowell. So he went on loan and it's great to see him doing well. At the end of this season he still has 3 years left on his contract. If Silva decides to keep him in the summer, he will do as he did with Lookman this summer. If not, his form with CSKA will only increase his value when we come to sell him.

Remember he only turned 21 last week so is still very young for a playmaker. Croatia produce some cracking midfielders and if this lad develops into one then that could be fantastic for us.
