In all fairness, a lot of us were lamenting the ‘waste of money’ on Keane and Sigurdsson last season.

Maybe he’ll come back a better player next season in a functional team, or maybe he’s just showing the Russian league for the amateur dirge that it is.

I think it’s strange to make a final decision on such a young player considering the mess of last year or so, don’t you think?
I hope he does come back a better player, just don't think he has the basic skills at a high enough standard to do so. Silva apparently had him behind Dowell in the number 10 pecking order., and I trust his judgement above those who have only seen him on TV in a 3rd rate league.

He was briliant at u21 national team this qualification round. Yesterday he played 15min and Croatian selector is counting on him a lot. I think he will play on Sunday, at least 20-30 min.

..I like him. The doubt I have is that Silva sent him on loan which suggests to me that he wasn’t overly keen. Its all conjecture, but in effect, Silva kept Dowell and sent Vlasic on loan.

On the flip side: he could see Vlasic as having more potential than Dowell, and with Dowell not wanting a loan, would prefer to keep the “lesser” player around FF knowing he’ll hardly play and let the “better” player go and get a full season under his belt.

I still think it was agreed to some extent. Vlasic is a young young lad, he didn't want another year of being backup because he NEEDS competitive matches(as does Dowell but different thread). When Silva told him he would be backup my line of thought is he asked to go out because how can he improve if he never plays? Beginning of the year he could have had a real shot at making/staking a place for himself but not a chance at the moment.

the biggest thing for me was apparently he was sent to train away ftom the rest of the squad with Mirallas, Martina and Williams. Silva never denied this either so that tells me he either wasn't keen on him from the off or he thought he had a bad attitude.

I've got no issues with sending players on loan but I'm not sure Silva sent him on loan to get experience, I think he sent him on loan to simply ship him out and away from the squad.

I thought that Silva wanted to keep him at Everton this year as back up but Vlasic insisted that if that was the case he wanted to go on loan which is fair enough I think. I do wonder if Silva putting him on the naughty step means he doesn't want to come back at all anymore.
Either way him doing so well can only be good for us even if only results in extra £££ when we sell him

...absolutely. Now we don’t know the reasons, perhaps Vlasic wasn’t prepared to knuckle down and fight for a place but whatever, I have it in my mind that Silva isn’t keen on his attitude.
