Non League Football

Beckenham town who I watch fairly often got a relegation reprieve and will again be in the Isthmian South. Someone else turned down promotion I think.
I suppose travelling and ground improvements make it beyond some clubs.

Sometimes logistics just aren't there.

Joining Marine next season are Needham Market, if you've never heard of it (I hadnt) it's 8 miles from Ipswich and they'll be in the National League North.

The owner has basically thrown in the towel already.

It's the harsh reality of non league sometimes.

Nantwich early bird season ticket £190 for 21 games. Goes up a tenner after early July. Match ticket prices the same as last season, £11 online £12 on the gate.

Seems fair enough to me, what are the other non league teams charging?

Having been promoted to National League North, we've had a fairly decent, but understandable hike in prices.

Ours are up from £165 to £225, which is just a shade under £10 a game. Matchday is up from £12 to £15, which is still one of the cheapest in the league.

15 isn't cheap. Welling united is 15 quid and we're not the cheapest in the South.

Yes it's not bad. Still crazy when you think I paid 15 Euros in February to see Rayo Vallecano in Spain's top flight.

English Football is extortionately expensive.

Over the past 12 months I've probably done a dozen games abroad; the most expensive was a Champions League game and that was only £30. I went go Lecce last week, it was €14 w/Fees.

But for 6th tier, I'd say £15 is actually quite good value. I had a friend who had to pay £50 to watch Leeds at an away last year. So I agree it's not cheap compared to continental football, but to England it's affordable.

£6 at Brocton and £3 concessions. Kids at £1 is best value as they play on the second team pitch for the entire game which is excellent and don’t bother watching the game.

Tea and coffee is a quid.

I had tried to get them to increase but was told to shut up as this is community football!

Similar to Beckenham at step 4. Nice for my son to play football at the side on the grass and less bored than watching the whole game. He managed to lock himself in a toilet the last time we went though. 🙄

Second pre-season friendly this afternoon, Prestwich Heys v Glossop N.E , decent game but I’ve had better pies IMG_7400.jpeg
It’s going to take something to beat the home-made steak and ale pie at Mossley last season. Should be more pie Q.A opportunities at new grounds this year with Cables being promoted. Everton games will be the same old Chicken Tikka pies at the same grounds…….

Just become an official sponsor of Thornton Cleveleys FC who are having their first season in the north west counties league.

Used to play for them when I played in the west Lancashire league, so will hopefully get down and watch a few games this coming season.

I had a bimble across to watch Nantwich last night, their first XI (incl a few trialists) vs Wolves U-21. Game finished 1-1, thanks to an absolute homer of a ref. Interestingly I thought the Wolves kids would be all over the ref, but they pretty much said fook all, despite some shocking decisions. Wolves changed their whole team at half time, the team in the second half looked far smaller, and more like under 18s.

What was noticeable was how the physicality of Nantwich came to the fore for the first 15 mins of each half, but then the Wolves kids pretty much took control mid way through each half. One or two of the Wolves kids looked about 16 and they were all very comfortable receiving the ball in tight spaces with the odd proper tackle flying in.
