Non League Football

@Lobworm looks like I missed a hum dinger at Nantwich! Pleased with the point after being 2-0 down. Glad you got your money’s worth!
A proper game that mate.
A massive mistake from the NT cb in the first 15 led to the mother of all scrambles. Then there was similar at the other end after a corner iirc.
A hopeful punt lead to the first goal, an oggy header (keeper's fault imo). Widnes were really struggling with the NT corners, which lead to a few half chances and ultimately the second goal.
For the last 15 of the first half NT were fully in control, but on the stroke of half time, 5 mins injury time and the last kick of the half, more or less, an absolute huimdinger (think Top Corner, epic bantz etc etc) from I think the Widnes left back, gave them a foothold.
Second half I don't think NT turned up.. they lost one of their forwards due to injury.. conceded a second and then it was Widnes who were better in two thirds of the pitch, yet without creating much in the way of chances.

Edit: @GrandOldTeam love the way we can't write "top b-i-n-s" and it comes out as 'Top Corner' even in an 'epic bantz' kind of way.

Yeah it sounded like a game of two halves. And yeah it was our left back Matty Rain who scored right on half time, I can’t ever remember him scoring before but he should get more, he has a great strike on him.

We’ve been shocking at defending set pieces all season so far so it’s not a surprise that we’ve conceded from another one. It’s something that needs addressing. Knew Nantwich corners would cause us problems because Lonsdale’s delivery terrorised us when he was at Stalybridge last season.

Lonsdale had a free kick chance at 2-1 iirc but hit the wall, his back stick corners were top drawer tho, tbf.

The NT manager proper pi$$ed off again, lost it a few times, kept them out for 15 mins after the final whistle. A few players never turned up tonight. The lw from oldham Kofi Moore was ace first half, barely had a kick in the 2nd, especially when the rain started. Got hooked on 85, I would have subbed him on 65 tbf.

I think their pitch is one of the 50/50 artificial 3G pitches, @Lobworm might be able to correct me. More of these are popping up at non league level, too many games are falling victim to the weather so a lot more money is going into facilities and pitch relaying.
Yeah it's one of those 3/4/5g things (not sure which), made from recycled tyres apparently, iirc? You can't wear trainees on it, studs only. I prefer watching the game on grass, but that said, the bounce is consistent, the players aren't battling against the pitch, which from a spectators point of view is better.
I think they lose a shed load of money with postponements. One of the women's home matches was postponed last weekend tho, due to waterlogging apparently. Not sure if it was a lack of personnel, as I thought you could brush the water off?

I saw a Sussex derby at Lewes dripping pan ground today. Good support from the visitors Hastings who were well worth a point. I dodged one by missing Welling getting beaten 6-0 in Borehamwood.
It's a unique ground right next to the ancient priory. Not many grounds with a castle view I can think of, other than Lancaster city.
