Agreed, but I can hardly believe Chelsea are that dumb/hard up for a striker to give away Mata. Swapping Luiz, maybe, but Mata?

Chelsea would be barking to swap one of the players of the year and the league's top chance creator for a player with a bad attitude and an average recent goals tally. If Moyes could get them to bump up the money side of the deal they could have Van Persie, Mata and a £20m forward playing for them next season.

Mata's value besides being their best player of the two seasons will be worth 2-3 times what's been thrown about and I guess Luiz wouldn't come cheap either. Load of crock imo.

This seems to have been missed buy a few people - Chelsea insist no swap deal was offered.

"Chelsea can confirm that yesterday it made a written offer to Manchester United for the transfer of Wayne Rooney," read the statement.
"Although the terms of that offer are confidential, for the avoidance of doubt and contrary to what is apparently being briefed to the press in Sydney, the proposed purchase does not include the transfer or loan of any players from Chelsea to Manchester United."
