Not A Transfer Rumour..... Wayne Rooney

If Chelsea and Mourinho genuinely bid £10m + Juan Mata then they're insane. And Moyes is even more insane for not accepting it. No way that's true, surely?

For some reason I just don't believe that they'll sell him to an English club. If I were them, I'd rather let him sulk and run out his contract than play with any domestic competitors.

You can't let a player with an asset value of probably £40m to sulk & run his contract down, especially when you're paying him £250k per week! Never going to happen that.

They've simply got to sell him now & whilst I'm sure they'd prefer not to see him move within the PL, if there's no big money offers from the Continent then he's going to have to move domestically.

I'm not saying that's what they should or will do. Just emphasizing the point that I wouldn't sell him in England. I'd take far less from a PSG etc than I would from Chelsea, Arsenal etc.

Utd won't sell to Chelsea unless Chelsea make a ridiculous over priced offer, then they may consider it.

Really good point. IF Wayne keeps kicking off then United are caught between a rock and a hard place. Simply put, they really can't sell him to Chelsea. If they did then Chelsea would be out and out favourites for the coming season and probably the next few seasons after that. Essentially if Moyes sells him to Chelsea he's making it almost impossible for him to win the league (and therefore keep his new job long term).
Very interesting indeed :)

Rooney will go back to OT with Chels score 7 goals in the first half then get sent off for exposing himself to the Stretford end shouting at the camera "Moyes has ginger bollocks ..... on his fkn head!!".

Be worth every shilling of the fine.

United will want to get someone in now, even more urgently than before because of this imo, their chief exec has returned early to the uk to try and get a deal done, hopefully it doesn't involve any of our players.

I think Rooney at Chelsea would be a killer combo. Can totally see him reigniting his form in that team.
Personally though I'd love to see him stay at Utd until his contract ends in 2 years and he comes back to us. Obviously.

In FM, you can go for %age of profit or %age of the entire next sale.
Nebotiators were idiots to not go for the the entire sale clause.

Football Manager - lol.

In real life only a total bonehead would agree to a sell on clause that involved the original club taking a slice of the entire fee of the next sell on. As they would in essence be being paid twice if the next sale price wasn't in excess of the purhase price.

So much this. Remember, when he went, he was still "potential", all be it a pretty special "potential". % of next sale? Stick to FM!

Bit daft of Chelski though isn't it? Now United know they can hold them to ransom over the fee... Happy days for our 25% then :)

What was the terms of the sell on clause? Is it 25% of any money united make over what we paid them. If he goes to Chelsea for 30m that's 1.25m for us I guess. However I was under the impression this sell on clause was for only during the duration of his first contract signed. I will be glad if I'm wrong though.

It was still active the last time he chucked his teddy out the pram in'10. It's always been reported as 25% of the profit over the original £27m total fee

When Mike Phelan resigned as Manch U coach , he said that if Rooney had trained harder, he could have been up there with Ronaldo. I don't feel Rooney has fulfilled his potential.
Lack of ambition and hunger to reach the top ?
