What is the level headed response though? Our performances have been pedestrian and although the results have been adequate only the Citeh result was above par. We have recruited well in some departments (Pickford and Keane stand out, for example) but the most obvious area of weakness is unresolved with 24 hours of the transfer window remaining. Maybe we will pull a rabbit out of a hat on the final day of the window but even that would betray a lack of forward planning given Lukaku's departure was a given and several months (if not longer) was available. For some reason a range of midfield and deep lying forward players were prioritised while the strikers now linked are a long way below the standards set by Lukaku and, although we didn't expect a like for like replacement, no one would have given Okaka any credence at the start of the window as a reasonable striking target. As it stands our team lacks pace, both literally and in the way we move the ball around, and lacks goals. A signing or two and an altered style of play may resolve these issues but to refer to people with concerns in this regard as "knee jerkers" does not seem fair to me.
