Yeah the old Moyes 4-6-0 formation!Run out of cash and now we've remembered we haven't signed a replacement for the man that funded most of our other deals.
We go with 60 midfielders and hope for the best.

It'll be just like the good old daysCan't wait to watch us labour to defeat after defeat this season.
We've still got that 60m Chinese credit card/overdraft haven't we.
Most of that went on Iceland
The rest on that boy from Split
Where's the OP?
has he gone somewhere hot I hope? He's on holiday. Those closest are in contact on a daily basis. He still loves us, he's back soon.

What is the level headed response though? Our performances have been pedestrian and although the results have been adequate only the Citeh result was above par. We have recruited well in some departments (Pickford and Keane stand out, for example) but the most obvious area of weakness is unresolved with 24 hours of the transfer window remaining. Maybe we will pull a rabbit out of a hat on the final day of the window but even that would betray a lack of forward planning given Lukaku's departure was a given and several months (if not longer) was available. For some reason a range of midfield and deep lying forward players were prioritised while the strikers now linked are a long way below the standards set by Lukaku and, although we didn't expect a like for like replacement, no one would have given Okaka any credence at the start of the window as a reasonable striking target. As it stands our team lacks pace, both literally and in the way we move the ball around, and lacks goals. A signing or two and an altered style of play may resolve these issues but to refer to people with concerns in this regard as "knee jerkers" does not seem fair to me.Seen quite a bit of knee jerking in general over the past day or two.
Seems that when we win we're still no good, and when we lose there's no way back, Isthmian League here we come.
Level heads are what's needed.
You could be right and you could be way off.Well, I think we've cemented our place as the 7th best team in the league. We really are in no man's land- comfortably better over the course of 38 games than the rest of the dirt but still well behind the elites (save for an Arsenal collapse).
It's been a good summer in terms of expanding the squad for the rigours of the Europa League and no one can deny quality players have been bought. The problem is however, these players are not good enough to take us to where we supposedly want to be. If you want to finish in the Champions League places then you either need to unearth potential diamonds for bargain prices or splash the cash in the way the top teams always do.
Realistically this board is incapable of the latter- they just don't have the capital to inject into the team. Their raison d'etre has to be building this new stadium. Everything else is secondary.
They surely should have had a plan B though. Surely? (Don't call me Shirley, yada yada)I'm absolutely certain that Koeman and Walsh have been looking for as near as you can get to a like for like
replacement for Lukaku who will come to Everton. I mean, why wouldn't they?
The fact that they haven't found one simply means that he doesn't exist right now.
