There's more than 1 day in the transfer window.

I'm fairly sure I we'd gone in for Llorente a week or two ago he'd have come here. He'd have been the main man instead of being on Spur's bench. So yes, I do think we'd have had a good chance.

We knew about Lukaku leaving for at least 6 months and did nothing about it. You can't defend that. We could have got any of those players if we'd wanted them badly enough, but we didn't.
Just have to disagree with Llorente.once Chelsea or Spurs show interest we are blown out of the water.London and CL means we don't have a realistic chance.Far better looking for the Idrissa Gueeyes of this world sadly they don't come up too often

Departure record, I have heard it all now, we are building a team of players RK wants to turn into a successful side, it wont happen in two windows.
Teams aren't judged on their net spend, Everton FC is a business, Moshiri isn't showering money everywhere what makes you think thats what a successful owner should do ?

People need to get real and take a look at the long term view, sustainable academy players that can come through and either supply the team or be sold at profit.

Net spend merchants on this site and Twitter are turning me to drink, clearly can't think outside the parameters of a Net spend = success mentality.

That was in reply to another post. ' heard it all now '

Stay with it. For everyone getting giddy that Fared Kenwright is splashing the green ' eh lad, but we brokered our tranny record dree times doe '

No, I'm pretty sure what he's really saying is you're a tedious bore. Not agreeing with him of course, just trying to clarify things for you.
Well if you don't have a constructive argument, best always to fall back on the childish insult.Hope things work out better for you on FIFA 17 signings are far easier in the cyber world.

What was our record signing under Kenwright? Lukaku? We have payed more than what we did for Lukaku, 3 times under Moshiri. Can you imagine spending 45 million on one player a few years ago.
No, I can't. But then a few years ago I couldn't imagine a player costing £100m, nevermind double that.

Last time I checked, 13 teams out of the 20 in the PL had broken their transfer records this summer. It's possible there were more in the last week or so. The TV deal has completely changed the market, there's no point comparing fees to those paid in the past.

EXACTLY lad.

So how do you expect a long-term plan to work when as soon as we get a good player in the squad they immediately want to jet off to the teams above us. See Stones, Lukaku, Barkley.

If we can't bring in quality of the same level to replace them we're going to be fighting to sustain our level rather than improve it.

Because you do it in stages, make gradual sustainable progress in the correct direction over a set period, the likes of Gylfi and Rooney are those type of players, then players can see you are actually knocking on the door of the CL and then make that judgement, we aren't ready yet. in two year we might be, by then some of our youth will be coming through, and at that point you make your "Robinho" signing and you are away.

Mate you make it sound so simple when we've been trying to do the same thing for over a decade since we finished in the Top 4 with Moyes.

Every time we look to be kicking on or have some players to help us improve it all goes to plop and we have to start again.

We can't keep our best players and we can't replace them adequately when they go.

Hey don't shoot the messenger, I was just trying to help a brother out.

For future reference though, constantly pretending people are basing their opinions on FIFA is a childish insult. It's funny when certain posters do it because it's such an obvious joke, when you're being serious it's just, well, tedious.

..I think we had a transfer pot and it simply ran out with a week to go. There was a dependency to top funds up with outgoings but the Barkley situation in particular scuppered this.

I suppose the criticism can be levelled at prioritisation, but a costly striker would probably have been at the expense of one of the other players we bought.

Saying that, I think things have changed. We still have a limitation on spend but that limitation is higher than previous and its not a hand to mouth existence. The other major difference is salary, in that we can attract key players with big wages.

I get where you are coming from, but we had BK borrowing money from future season ticket sales to fund loans and crap players.
