So on this basis we can only make a judgement on Moshiri's net spend in February 2021, or maybe even February 2026, to allow him the 5 years (or 10 years - as with Spurs) to look at his net spend over a longer period.
Well we can have a pretty strong provisional set of conclusions cant we?

Let's have a look in September.

Well if the judgement period is up to 20 windows, we'll have had 3 in September, so on your terms I wouldn't be drawing many conclusions on that basis no.
Billionaire here for 3 windows? To be kosher he needs to be hitting a net spend for that period of £75M.

Anything less is just recycling player sales + spending the now astronomical tv cash.

So even though in the figures you quoted, Liverpool, arsenal and Chelsea spent <=£200m, you reckon that over the 5 years it needs to hit £250m, on the basis of 75m in 3 windows.

Think I'll stick to the measure of squad improvement window by window, and leave the net spend shenanigans to others.

You do right. Net spend on transfers alone means nothing.

Yes, it's all "bull"...and yet 99% of all top four slots and trophies go to those clubs that have large net spends.

There is NO way past that fact.
To have a NET SPEND require a loss, they have all made money of player sales in the last 5 years, means there NET SPEND is 0.

It's all about wages.

The important thing is getting the right players. In the 80's we spent a humongous amount of money (at the time) on Cottee, Nevin, McCall and McDonald but didn't get an improved team from it.
God bless.

Stating the obvious, how we spend is more important than what we spend. Spurs & Leicester both show there is more than one way to skin a cat. Obviously spending big, well is the best of all worlds...spending big, badly the worst.
This.
Over time, big spending will generally work, that is obvious. However, it hasn't been that great for Liverpool. They have had some success, but no pl title.
It is also worth noting that a 50m player is not twice as good as a 25m player. The huge additional outlay only buys marginal improvements. If the manager / recruitment team are not spot on with player recruitment they can waste a lot of money e.g. Niasse, per koldrup etc. All players, no matter what their value are sublect to the human condition. They get homesick, don't like the climate, get lonel, don't settle etc and this can erode their performances.
