Are you trying to say someone like Nzogbia would pick Everton who finish seventh and offer him £40k a week over Villa offering £60k a week but finished tenth.

Dont kid yourself mate most of the players now are not really arsed about history and tradition just how many zero's are in there next pay cheque.

THIS^

But to clarify, history-wise we're pretty even with Villa and miles ahead of Newcastle and Sunderland. Present tense (in terms of 'success' and likelihood to finish in Europe/win something) we're ahead of Villa, Newcastle and Sunderland.

But money rules all. We have no money.

Be a good little kopite and check our league positions over the last number of years compared to those teams above to find the difference. I dont think he,s stupid enough to not have noticed our team is consistently better than theirs and just needs a few tweaks to push on again depite not having a penny

It's stupid comments like that which make people think you support the Red Sh*te.

Sunderland and Newcastle haven't finished above us for at least 7 or 8 years, and Villa have only done so once in the past 5 IIRC. How you can stand there and say Sunderland and Newcastle especially have as much chance as being in Europe as we do is beyond me.

And its comments like these that prove your not using your loaf. For a start there are several ways to enter the Europa League, only one of which is league based, correct ?. Fulham, Birmingham and Stoke didn't finish above us and they are in Europe, via Fair play, the League Cup and an FA Cup final. I wasn't saying Villa, Sunderland or Newcastle would finish above us, i said they have as much chance of getting in Europe as we do, as they are just as capable of controlling their discipline or going on a cup run.

So let me get this straight. You're saying that Sunderland and Newcastle, two teams who haven't finished above us in 6 years, have as good a chance of getting into Europe as we do because of the minute chance they'll win a Cup or qualify via the fair play system ?

We have as good a chance as they do of winning a Cup or qualifying via fair play, and we're also the only team of the 3 to qualify for Europe or even come close in the past 6 years.

So tell me again, how do we not have a better chance than them of qualifying for Europe ?

Because we are reliant on cup runs or fair play to get into Europe next season. The top 6 is pretty untouchable in my opinion, so unless the Europa drops down to 7th (which is by no means probable) then our best chance is to qualify via alternate routes. In all honesty if we haven't signed anyone by September 1st, it would be something of an achievement to get 7th again next season given the way teams below us are spending.

That's my fear too.
