That's my fear too.

See the Spending League thread in World Football. It's a myth that teams below us are spending. Fulham have only paid out £2.9m on Riise, Stoke have spent nothing, Blackburn have spent nothing, Bolton have spent nothing...

Dave Whelan has accussed Villa of being cheap. He says he knows that the price for N'Zogbia is £10m and yet they still bid £9m. He's actually being very reasonable given that Young was also in the last year of his contract and went for £16m.

If £10m is the price for him then that's decent.

Because we are reliant on cup runs or fair play to get into Europe next season. The top 6 is pretty untouchable in my opinion, so unless the Europa drops down to 7th (which is by no means probable) then our best chance is to qualify via alternate routes. In all honesty if we haven't signed anyone by September 1st, it would be something of an achievement to get 7th again next season given the way teams below us are spending.

Regardless of whether it is probable or not, the fact remains that we are more likely to get into Europe by virtue of the fact that we are as likely to win a Cup or get in via Fair Play, but also have a chance of qualifying due to our position in the league. Just admit your original statement was inaccurate.

Yes, but the wage bill is increasing, which is another reason for us to sell, releasing money for much needed wage funds.

Bit disappointing that when the story broke of our apparent interest on SSN.. Grand Old teams headline was Everton BID £10million for N'Zogbia.

I think originally SSN said we'd bid £10 million, and then changed the story afterwards.

I'm not 100% certain though.

its hardly early days .... 58 days since the season ended , 25 days till the next one starts.
we have had soundbites from the chairman , ceo , manager and players that we needed signings early ,they havent happened .
zog isnt coming , no one is coming. at best i think we will see a few nobodys coming in on frees/loans at the last minute just to make up the numbers now.

were are already hearing soundbites about how great we are at giving youth a chance (well thats becouse we have no alternative isnt it ?)

58 days of checking every everton site for news , 58 days of nothing , im so fed up right now :(
