I met up with him and interviewed him for The Black Watch fanzine at the end of last year. He still goes to the game, he's had a season-ticket since the 60s, but is very modest about Anfield '84. Says that over the years loads of people have claimed to be him, he'd kept loads of press clippings/fanzine articles about it from over the years! Lovely fella and a proper Everton legend.

Magnificent goal. What composure he had.
Andy Grays right foot half volley for the first wasn’t too bad either. Neither was Nevs savefrom Falco at the death.
Pivotal result in winning the league. It was us or Spurs
Got absolutely wellied afterwards in London
We went up to Wednesday the following Saturday and played poorly but Nev was brilliant again and we sneaked a 1-0 win

Like I said I was in the home section at the far end opposite the Everton fans. Gray scored into that goal. The look on his face when the ball sat up for him was an absolute picture. He knew what he was going to do and absolutely lashed it in from the edge of the box. There is film of it I am sure! In fairness to the Spurs fans around me they were very fair minded about the Everton fans jumping up and sporting at the end even though that was the end of their title hopes. Great night to be a Blue!!!!
