Fans rave about John stones if John Stones turns out to be half as good as John Hurst above I will be made up a defender who could fetch the ball out of defence, and make and score goals, and solid as centre back along side Labby the Captain!
If we had a back four and keeper of West,Wright,Brown,Hurst,Labone I think we may have had a slightly better season this time around:)

I think thats v Burnley, looks like Peter Mellor and the fella between him and Jimmy Husband?.............I may be wrong but I reckon a very young Dobbo:)
Could be. Thought it might have been Fulham at first but the socks look like they could well be claret and blue. Can't make out the crest but it looks (to my poor old eyes) like a bird which made me think of Norwich. However I'm pretty sure they were nowhere near the first division back then so it would have to be a cup game.

He always goes on my dad that Roy vernon scored a header that day, apparently it was about as rare as that eclipse we had last weeklol
Very rare a header from Royston, can't actually remember ( if you could find footage, would be nice) something's stay crystal clear and other things become clouded ,over the years, I will be 80 this year, and will keep going while I have my health.
I have some great memories, shame the youngsters have not seen us win something, perhaps next year aye x

You might expect a butler behind that door ; Goodison 1906 ; 1963 title celebrations[/ATTACH] View attachment 7805 View attachment 7803 View attachment 7804

There was a proper Commissionaire on duty there in full uniform matchdays. Quick story about that entrance...when we beat WBA to win the title in 69/70, my big bro had taken me to the match that night. Massed crowd exultant leaving the ground and bro's old mate Taff from the RAF bumped into us on Goodison Rd. By that entrance, bro says just wait there and don't move I wont be long (different times then of course) and went into the Winslow for a pint - they hadn't seen each other for years. The door was open and no Commissionaire...so I went in bored on my tod. Alan Ball senior was inside and I asked him if he'd autograph my proey which he did...then I nearly passed out as Bally himself came through and had a chat...I could hardly speak as he was my hero and he signed the programme too. My bro was frantic apparently outside looking for me and nearly passed out when I walked out with Bally on his way to put stuff in the car park ! Brother and Alan went too young...Bally's Dad too. God bless 'em all.
