Old Everton Pictures

Jeez, small world. I worked with Davids dad when I was an apprentice toolmaker in Speke. A lovely man was Tommy and very kind to me when I was a kid, a gem of a bloke. Poor fella had a very toxic job there as well in the heat treatment room, so toxic he was suffering with the effects then god bless him.

I knew David was doing well and spoke with Tommy about it a lot.
I started playing for the factory team in the Liverpool Shipping league at 16 and although his lad was on the brink of Liverpool's first team squad he used to come to some of our games and heap out praise, I was tickled pink by that.

He took some flak from the blues though when Davy scored against us at anfield lol. Great memories there guys.
W. L & N?
The snowflakes and greenies will have a fit, but back in the 60s we were still using whale oil for our more complicated quenches

My older brother went to that game - bloodbath - Temple got kicked off the pitch - Sandy Brown got studded by Giles in the first minute down his chest.... then immediately punched his lights out = sent off - oh and we lost 1-0 ........
The players were taken off it came close to being abandoned ......
Me too. The Reff lost control early on, let them get away with it.
The crowd, virtually fizzing at the bung at the injustice of the whole thing, yet unable to do a thing in the face of Leeds' continued super snide behaviour, led by Revie's snide in chief, that 2@ Giles and his little snidey mate Bremner.
We were reduced, in the face of the Reffs lack of control, to an impotent for now baying mob...the anger was a palpable physical thing.
It was probably a good thing he took them off to let the crowd cool down.
They talk about the Goodison Bear Pit...not that it happens too often now...pales in to insignificance to that day

11th May 1963. Fulham players congratulate Everton on winning the league title by beating them 4-1, at Goodison Park. England wing half Bobby Robson (centre) looks suitably impressed by the occasion. -

....great picture that, Joey. Robson always had a respect and fondness for the Toffees and you can see why.

I'm pretty sure thats a young Alan Mullery behind Bobby Robson and Tony Kay getting a hug from a fan I'm sure
Jimmy (The Chin) Hill played that fantastic day. Cracking photo Joey.

I remember that they had been giving little tubes of men’s hair cream free outside the ground. When the teams were taken off to calm down thousands of these tubes rained down onto the pitch.
That tackle on Derek Temple was by a yard dog called Willie Bell and was one of the worst tackles I have see.

I was there also and was a matter of yards away from that tackle. I heard Temple shriek as the ankle must have gone one way then the other. How it wasn't a career ending jobbie I'll never know.
Fast forward to 1970 when we were at home and it was us and Leeds for the title when it was coming out of the transistor radios people brought in the days that there was massive fume at a dodgy offside call that gave WBA a 3-1 lead.
We won our game and was pivotal in us winning the title that year. Karma in action!
