Old Everton Pictures

Just turned up a pic Joey, I'd all but given up.

You can see the area now,,,it had 4 pylons and does look like a 5 a side practice pitch. Walls were higher than they look there but I was only a child lol.

.....yep, I haven’t seen David for many years but he always lets on and wants a chat. I don’t think his Dad was an Evertonian but I can’t be certain.

Jeez, small world. I worked with Davids dad when I was an apprentice toolmaker in Speke. A lovely man was Tommy and very kind to me when I was a kid, a gem of a bloke. Poor fella had a very toxic job there as well in the heat treatment room, so toxic he was suffering with the effects then god bless him.

I knew David was doing well and spoke with Tommy about it a lot.
I started playing for the factory team in the Liverpool Shipping league at 16 and although his lad was on the brink of Liverpool's first team squad he used to come to some of our games and heap out praise, I was tickled pink by that.

He took some flak from the blues though when Davy scored against us at anfield lol. Great memories there guys.

That's the park end now a car park for press and TV companies etc - may have been a small area ?

I now reckon it was the pre match warm up area. You never saw the players come out on the pitch then unless it was to inspect the pitch in their suits.......first time you saw them was when Z Cars rang out.....and I used to get in the ground before 1pm lol. Someone may know otherwise!

Goodison park when I was a kid had a small "stadium" on the Bullens road side in the complex complete with smaller floodlights than our old pylons on the main ground. By the time I was old enough to go to the match it had gone.........I asked my dad at the time what it was for and he said they'd have training matches there, however I'm certain Bellefield was in use then, in fact I know it was. So with all the great nostalgia and pics and knowledge in this thread can anyone tell me what it was (or if I'm dreaming lol), and a long shot but any pics? Cheers lads.
I grew up very near to Goodison and I can confirm it was just a small training area where the players would do some light training, maybe if they wanted to protect the pitch at Goodison.
It did have small floodlights too.

My older brother went to that game - bloodbath - Temple got kicked off the pitch - Sandy Brown got studded by Giles in the first minute down his chest.... then immediately punched his lights out = sent off - oh and we lost 1-0 ........
The players were taken off it came close to being abandoned ......

Wished we'd had Sandy and Johnny at Millwall last week......they'd not have been scared:D
