The Goodison Rd stand and terracing. Awesome. Intimidating. And architecturally beautiful.

Clinton Harvey
Colins brother - doh been finding pictures all day give me some credit!lolWho he, Joey?
It was in the days were cough attendences pay at the gate were adjusted to beat the taxman maybe?Got to laugh over the official attendance that day. 39,000. GP had a 53,000 capacity in those days and every seat was sold and the terraces were heaving. That kind of under-reporting was widespread in the 70s and 80s.
Brilliant that top terrace was wooden flor timber under the roof of the stands the sing, coating warmed up 60mins before kick off or some big games even earlier! Was that ever Evertons end ,like the st end for singing?
If you're referring to the old Goody Rd terracing then the answer is no. But then in those days there wasn't much coordinated chanting and singing as such. I suppose that's why the Kop was in its own way quite unusual. What there was at GP was a venomous, intimidating roar all round the ground. The Everton crowd was renowned for how partisan it was. I can recall a very old magazine article written by the football commentator Kenneth Wolstenholme (probably written in the mid-60s) in which he described the Everton crowd as the most partisan in the country and GP as the most intimidating stadium. Was that ever Evertons end ,like the st end for singing?
The street end was very good for chanting, sometimes the Goodison road was used by the away fans, but mainly the park end as singing opposition - We shall not be moved was played for the st end to chant before the teams came out!If you're referring to the old Goody Rd terracing then the answer is no.
