Old Everton Pictures

If you're referring to the old Goody Rd terracing then the answer is no. But then in those days there wasn't much coordinated chanting and singing as such. I suppose that's why the Kop was in its own way quite unusual. What there was at GP was a venomous, intimidating roar all round the ground. The Everton crowd was renowned for how partisan it was. I can recall a very old magazine article written by the football commentator Kenneth Wolstenholme (probably written in the mid-60s) in which he described the Everton crowd as the most partisan in the country and GP as the most intimidating stadium.

Didnt he get his car turned over or something ?

Two small errors in that otherwise excellent article.
Firstly, the banner was hung over the electric scoreboard of the Park End so that everyone with a sight line on the scoreboard would see it.
Now depending upon exactly when that article was written and the quotes given by Colin about not meeting those responsible... he did meet the two lads who hung the banner, cos it was my banner and my mate Gareth helped me hang it over the electric scoreboard.
Later in the season, we went over to Hillsborough for a Wednesday evening testimonial game and ahead of going to the game, we rang to see if Colin would be playing. Sadly, he didn't play due to his hip problems, but we met him at the ground and showed him the banner. As always he was smashing, a true gentleman, humbled and grateful that we'd expressed our feelings towards him in such a way and bothered to go over to Sheffield for a non Everton game just to see him.

I met him a couple of times and on one of those occasions I said how in my opinion badly he had been treated and that he should never have been sold, should have been kept to build a new first team around him in the reserves. He would have nothing of it and said he wanted to play and it was a decent move. But was made up to come back!

He was, is and always will be a top quality Blue legend.
We should meet at a match one day mate, and I'll tell you about another example of his outstanding generosity that sees me the proud owner of an autographed caricature of the great W.R.Dean.
And I've said it many times, I still believe he could do a job for the club in mentoring the youngsters. Ross is improving, but I firmly believe CH could help him master his art.

My first one too! Did a fete at St George's church probably 1967 or so! I was trembling!

Deffo mate, personally speaking I think its a travesty a man of his expertise and vast knowledge is not employed at "his"club, not knocking our current ambassadors, but I cannot think of a finer example of anyone still around to represent us as a club.

Superb photos there mate.
As an aside. Was reading the graham Sharp focus there (the only one big enough for me to see) and in the 'A player for the future' question, he gives the name Jimmy Coyle (Everton Apprentice). I've been trying to remember that name for ages as, back in the 80s, reading the programme, it seemed like virtually every player named that lad as one for the future.
I imagine another in the long list of young promises who lost there way or maybe had a bad injury.
Don't know if anyone remembers anything about the lad.

Yep,like you mate I remember him every week in the programme being tipped as the next big thing, all I know is there were rumours at the time of players watches etc going walkabouts from the changing rooms,I think his nickname was Buddy Coyle, sad if that was the case as he appeared to have a great future,as I say it was only a rumour I recall from the time and the lad may just not have made it at the club, never heard of him at another club after EFC.
