I was at White Hart Lane that day and was ecstatic when the half time scores went up. I heard no more and found out what
had happened walking past a TV shop in the High street after the match. The telly in the window was showing their third goal at the moment
I got there. What a kick in the guts that was.
...I was there too and you can understand why Alan Ball became an instant hero. Alan Ball delivered week in week out, he truly was the very best we've had.

It was worse for me as I was with a Red mate in the Kop at 2-0 up , and outplaying them for fun with 15 mins to go he asked lets go for the bus as many were leaving the kop end - get lost I said enjoying the play as we looked in no danger - They got the first one a minute later the roar from the Kop was annoying as Toshack headed home { I think he had just joined them} it was then upon wave after wave of red attacks, then Toshack scored a similar 2nd goal not sure if Heighway provided both crosses. 2-2, and I thought well at least we have a draw as it went into the 90 minute!
I am going i said in a bitter tone as the Kop and my mate went mad, as i forced my way out I had one leg on the step leading out down the steps of the kop, and one leg still inside the crowd - my mate was still in there when Chris Lawler their goalscoring fullback got the winner in a scramble my mate gloated later - as I waited at the bottom for him blues fans walked toward me of all ages it was the girls and mums crying - I was fuming as my mate came towards me smiling I just reminded him with anger he wanted to leave early as they had been out played never went in the Kop again I was in there when we won 2-0 -never again for me to return to that pit!!
