The old Goodison Rd was the most fantastic stadium section ever. Architecturally awesome, and intimidating. Unbelievable. What a loss. What took its place is gruesome.Fantastic photo and look at the packed terrace under the Goodison Road Stand.
Do you know I seen many away fans gather there as their main end for chanting instead of the park end terracing as it was so vast and had cover-ironically one of the only parts of the ground I never stood or sat at -It did hold a vast amount of people for many of a year - on a few occasions Goodison held 70,000 +!Fantastic photo and look at the packed terrace under the Goodison Road Stand.
You could also go from the Park End to Gwladys St via the Goodison Rd terrace.Do you know I seen many away fans gather there as their main end for chanting instead of the park end terracing as it was so vast and had cover-ironically one of the only parts of the ground I never stood or sat at -It did hold a vast amount of people for many of a year - on a few occasions Goodison held 70,000 +!
My older brother remembers when you could three parts walk around all ends of the ground only the Bullins road by Glawdys street was blocked off so in theory you could stand behind each goal to see the blues attacking if you wanted to, or stand either side just like some non professional grounds today! You could also go from the Park End to Gwladys St via the Goodison Rd terrace.
My Dad always said that when DT ran onto that through ball at Wembley all the Blues knew he would score because he used to do it so often, just like this picture shows. My dad would have loved this thread lads!!!Temple in full flow -
