In many ways he was Mr Everton in the previous century. I can still hear his quiet Geordie accent as I look upon these pictures.

Yes indeed. Imagine the multi millionaire players of today having to do some real graft after hanging up their gold laden boots.

Yes indeed. Imagine the multi millionaire players of today having to do some real graft after hanging up their gold laden boots.

Or having to get a job in the close season. Admittedly this was more in the lower leagues in the mid sixties, but the clubs would find them work in the locality for ten weeks or so rather than pay them when they weren't playing.
