the third division was formed in 1921. Sorry folks. That's the result of a miss spent youth. A head full of useless football facts.
Ps......loved Jimmy Husband. Loved all that team from that era......

Bigger achievement in 1987 than 1985 in my honest opinion, our team was literally decimated that season, we certainly utilised our squads depth!!We simply altered our game to suit Lineker for his pace - the season after we used our midfield more and the goals were spread more evenly .......we used a huge squad of players in 1987 too -
I've posted about that photo before.
It is an absolute disgrace that the club did not have a proper team photo taken with the squad that won those trophies. For Gray not to be on it, and Lineker to be on it, was shambolic on the part of the club.
And that wasn't a great team. Everything was Lineker-centric. If he wasn't scoring, we were faltering. I'll never forget the Oxford United away game. 0-0 late in the second half, Lineker clean through - misses. We end up losing 0-1. End of title. The next season, without him, goals came from everywhere, and we won the title again.
That's true @Dario Terracotta recalls that too - Sharpy in an interview stated it was rubbish anyway as he and other players missed easy chances in that game too - it was just a game that went that way - we could not get a winning goal - DohIf I remember I think there was a story after that game about the boots he wore? Either he forgot his “favourite” boots or for some other reason he had to wear a pair of new boots - anyway I think the boots got the blame !
Stuart Storer........never played a match for Everton. But did play over 300 combined for Bolton....Exeter and Brighton. Then played for a few non-league teams. I've seen that photo before........But knew little about Storer.
Wayne was a very underrated goalscorer for us plus again an inspirational buy by HK ...... I always remember his chipped lob at Arsenal away, plus ending the other lots unbeaten run .....Stuart Storer........never played a match for Everton. But did play over 300 combined for Bolton....Exeter and Brighton. Then played for a few non-league teams. I've seen that photo before........But knew little about Storer.
And as for Clarke.........I actually thought he did ok for us. A good player imo . Who scored a few goals.....
