Old Everton Pictures

.....great night, not forgetting that Spurs were very much in the running and had the majority of remaining games at home. I remember Andy Gray saying the players treated that game like a Cup Final, buoyed on by the sight of so many Evertonians on their way into WHL.

Don't know how many we took to WHL but where I was I could barely jump up to celebrate behind the goal because of the crush of fans. There was so many of us we could barely had room to lift our arms and basically did the pogo. Great night that we deserved with a long long last 10 minutes. Spurs home record was quite poor for a challenger but the result was the main result of the season as they were the only serious challengers to us at that stage. Great night.

1962-63!!!!!
BTW was intrigued to hear yesterday that Leicester were actually top that season until 5 games to play. I had thought it was just us vs Spurs.
I did ? mark it thought it may have been the charity shield win a the next season 62?63 season was the big freeze of a winter many games cancelled!
looking at it it does look like your spot on - just readin brian harris book in that era he did not turn up for the celebration because of how the tony kay deal had been carried out, and other things HC had done!
What a great player he turned out to be for us, costing us just a £10 signing on fee!
