Old Everton Pictures

Spurs v Everton 1960
I thought that was the old main stand for a moment.

Great picture that shows so much what football used to be about... look at all the people crammed into that terrace... their home end I believe.

I think that stand is still there now, just with seats, exec boxes and a new roof?

Short sleeve shirts too. Well it was August.
First trip to WHL was new years day 1966 blurred really because of a brilliant New Years Eve in and around Trafalgar Square . and of course not losing the day after against Spurs ..

.....they did, i accidentally found myself there on that great night on the Championship run-in in 1985. It was really difficult not jumping up and down when we scored but it was also an insight listening to the Spurs fans eulogise over the quality in our side.
I was in the home stand to your right behind the goal! Had no problems jumping up and celebrating! They took it surprisingly well. Madame Allezlesbleus and my late dad were more cautious though which possibly helped!

.....great night, not forgetting that Spurs were very much in the running and had the majority of remaining games at home. I remember Andy Gray saying the players treated that game like a Cup Final, buoyed on by the sight of so many Evertonians on their way into WHL.

A massive turnout. It looked like some serious crushing was taking place there were so many in there. Midweek Wednesday night. My strongest memory of the night though was the split second smile on Andy Gray's face as the ball sat up for his volley into the end we were sat!! Opposite end from the Everton end. He knew it was going in from the moment the defender's header broke his way!
I think they had gone to their 'cup final ' hotel in Beaconsfield too?
