Dixie & Tommy Lawton who he knew was his replacement yet always gave him advice & they both respected one & Other never played upfront much together though -

always wondered how many goals Lawton would have scored for us if he'd been lucky enough to have been say ten years with Everton. His percentages in his ever so short two years were out of this world. I MO he'd have been a clear second to Dixie Dean in our goalscoring records.... A clear second by a country mile.......
Ps.......my Old grandad supported Everton from say the 1920s/1930s. He really rated Tommy Lawton.
Just his opinion........But he rated(if possible to oppose Dixie) that Lawton was better?........Always remember his stories as a youngster of those guys. Sagar.......Jones......Mercer and Hickson were also favourites.
He was in his 70s when we won the league in 1969/70. Like me he loved The Trinity.......
