Old Everton Pictures

iirc, he had a newspaper column for the southern papers, he may have even been one of the very few who actually wrote it himself
But that sort of stuff would play well in london where Spurs were the big deal about then.
Ive seen other articles saying how we were ' too rough' and basically kicked the southern media darlings out of it to win the league
I've always held the theory that the media in England fell head over heels in love with Spurs when they won the double in 61.

Hey who was the one who posted a photo when he was young with a full head of hair in a team photo...also praised him as a coach in the 1980's a true blue our Terry, not our fault he resembled Max Wall in his latter years as a player - only joking a good steady right back for us ...... ;)
Seemed to be all over the place the few times that I saw him play. Just like his hair was. Thanks for letting us know that he was a right-back. I wouldn't have known from the way he defended.
Joking apart........I once saw him kick the ball straight up in the air. It came down and bounced off the back off his head. The ball control was out of this world. Watching it we didn't know if we should laugh or cry. Big Mike Lyons stepped forward and put the ball safely into row z . No nonsense...
But as stated before, he played I believe 162 times for Everton. So credit when credit is due.
I was just trying to figure out who took over at right-hand from him.......David Jones??? Not sure........must check.

Spot on........Coventry were a bogie team. Just looked back at results for that season......WBA beat us twice. Bloody West Brom.
We also struggled against Leeds utd.......Bolton and Ipswich. We finished 4th that season. But as you say ...we were just missing that little bit of extra quality. Mainly in defence imo...
West Brom had a really good team to be fair and finished third.

Still, one of my fave memories is from that season with us beating the rs for the first time in 7 years.

Yep....WBA has a good team back then. I just couldn't get over that we couldn't beat them in the 1968 cup final. For years after that match, I said that the B in wba stood for Bloody. (Could have been something ruder).
A little family joke between me and my Everton supporting Grandad and uncle. They were locked on Everton that day to win a tidy sum of money. Everton winning The cup. And them winning money. But not to be......bloody West brom.
Anyhow I'm over all that now about West Brom......don't hate them anymore.......I think.

I bloody do. Mind you, I bear a grudge at the best of times.
