Old Everton Pictures

I often wondered why they went bust...I know there was footballing costs and wages to pay even at that level.
With Goodison and anfield only a bus ride away, they couldn't charge too much or people would not go...the few that did
iirc, the social club was the chief support and that made money hand over fist...but again allegedly... I'm just not too sure whose hand and whose fist it was in the till and how much made it to the footballing side.
Again, iirc, the social club and football club split... I'm not sure whose idea that was either.
Never got to play them away they folded their under 18 side were top of our league we were mid table ....1\4 of the way through they folded .......all teams defunct .....

I was at that game ,It was a bit lively at the tube station after the game. The same day the first murder of a football fan inside an English football ground took place. A Blackpool fan was Stabbed to death on the terraces by Bolton fans.
Yeah sad day. Kevin Olsson. His killer never brought to justice. It is said he left the country soon after. Plaque in Kevins memory can be seen in what was the old Kop, now the north west corner stand.

Poland at Wembley - and the great GK performance - was the one where Norman Hunter made a catastrophic error. Almost certain the Moore mistake was away. Think it's tangerine toffee who remembers it. IDK for certain - I'm Irish!
It was away. In case you missed it first time I posted. David Coleman's legendary commentary "cool piece of play by Moore, oh too cool, 1-0"

I think it was Poland at home, wasn't it? The match where Tomaszewski stopped almost everything and England could only draw 1-1 despite playing them off the park and creating loads of chances.
Two different games. The home game with Tomas having a blinder was the one were Cloughie called him a clown keeper. And then Shilton let the ball skewer under his body for their winner.

Should never happen at a football match mate. The only good thing that has come out off modern day football is that hooliganism has for the most part has been eradicated.
