We approached Jimmy Armfield to Manager us he turned us down ........

He got the Leeds job instead after the Cloughie debacle. Did pretty well getting them to the European cup final. Wasn't suited long-term to the hurly burly of management in my opinion, and found his niche for life as a commentator/analyst on BBC football shows. Legend.
