Slightly off topic Re. Burtonwood.
Liverpool City Council and the Mancs were offered Burtonwood...the yanks handed it back to the UK in 1946, who were, post war, winding down and cutting costs...offered it to supposedly run a Northwest area airport hub, B'wood had 1 X 9,000ft military grade super fortress capable runways, plus 2 smaller ones.
Mancs - yep we're in, Ringway's a bit old and small now
LCC...still smarting from the Mancs building the ship canal?? - Nah, nowt wrong with Speke.
