Old Everton Pictures

They were great servants for the Toffees back in those times. The year of the Championship win where Rog stepped in to cover for captain Labby in the run in to glory. Found out recently that the EPL, whose ruling for appearances is 5 games for a medal will be retrospectively applied to that time which means Rogers 8 gets him one. Long time coming but so well earned and deserved.
Great CH. Totally reliable when Labone would be injured. He would invariably be the sub in 1970-71. Unfortunately when Wilf Dixon took over in Catterick's absence late in the 1970/1 season he preferred an all-rounder to be on the bench. This proved our downfall in the semi against the RS when he put Sandy Brown on the bench instead. As fate would have it, Labone was injured after an hour and Brown just couldn't cope with Toshack.

Peter Farrell shakes hand with fellow captain United's John Carey - Later to become our Manager in the early 1960s} sacked in the back of a Taxi by then Chairman John Moore's who stated, he was badly advised by his Lawers as the legal implications were only resolved in court in 1967 for an unfair way of dismissal Moore's had to pay him far more compensation than he ever thought he was advised back in 1960 -

16th of March 1963 a FA Cup tie we were beat 1-0 in a very controversial match away - a certain Jack Taylor refereed this game which the blues fans almost rioted with his decisions - The GV stated he dreaded seeing his name at the 1966 final....
Beer bottles were thrown fights broke out in a game the GV stated we might have won the double that year.....
