Can never quite understand when viewing these pictures and others of the 84/85 season how our average attendance was only around 31,000, particularly when you take account of the density of the crowd on the terraced sections in those days.

Possibly something to do with the Park End? For a while the all terrace under the stand was boarded up, then at some point the whole lot got demolished, before it was rebuilt as it is today.

Certainly would have made a difference after Banks was given a dodgy Mexican Burito, on purpose some believed, and missed the game against the Germans.

Look at Labbys reaction when the equaliser went in. He's screaming at the hapless Bonetti. Then when the winner goes in he squats down in horror and is thinking if his mate Westy was in goal, as he should of been, England are in the WC semis.
