Classic example of what i was referring to mate with Johnny. Years on that England team is usually referred to as a playing a 4-4-2 system but at the time it was called a 4-3-3 (it's probably more a 4-1-3-2 in modern terms- with Stiles as the anchor/enforcer/hacker).
 
A great player and a poor captain by many accounts. The calming influence of Labby obviously far more preferable to the squad than a whiny motormouth.
Yes only if the Catt had handed back the captaincy to Labby - Bally upset a lot of players .,...,his standards were so high Westy stated he regretted the day Labby got injured .....

He stated he & Bally fell out ...... Keith Newton was glad Bally was sold ...

Maybe the reason the Catt foolishly sold Bally after to many bust ups - plus playing Bally injured .....

All its & buts, but I agree Bally was never a captain at club level he wanted a very high standard .....never had a temperament to carry it off maybe ......
