There were a couple of sub 10k crowds in the League cup under HK,but the lowest was after he left(first time round)and that was the sub 4000 crowd v Millwall in that poxy Simod cup,a brainchild of the football league, open to clubs from the top two divisions and supposedly a tournament to help make up some of the income lost due to the English clubs ban from Europe. Some of the crowds in it were that low,it was probably costing clubs money to stage these games! Out of the so called big 5 at that time,Everton were the only club that entered it for the half a dozen or so seasons it ran(once English clubs were re-established back in Europe,it thankfully came to an end),the other four wisely deciding that they didn't need to bother. Why on earth did we enter that,I presume it was to do with Philip Carter being the president of the football league at that time as well as Everton chairman of course.I read one attendance was 3.000 ish in the bad days of HK - my brother recalls some guy asking for a light of his ciggerette having to walk a hundred yards to get his ciggie lit lol
