25 January 1964 Roy Vernon's penalty away to Leeds secures a replay in the FA Cup after Alex Scott's penalty had been saved by Gary Sprake, only for the referee to adjudge he had moved early and ordered the kick to be retaken! It was in the last minute to make it 1-1 my late father and older brother told me it was Capt Alex parker who missed the first pen?

A typical send the goalkeeper the wrong way Vernon pen keeping us in the c

....I suppose that's the year West Ham beat Preston in the final, Howard Kendall becoming the youngest player to play in an FA Cup final at that point.

Just checked we beat Leeds 2-1 in the replay, my older brother, and my late father were at both games the away game on our voodoo venue at Leeds we were never going to score pen in the last minute looking at the records it was Alex Scott epwho missed the pen only for the ref for it to be retaken with Vernon doing the honours as pictured!
Next round they went again Sunderland away got hammered 3-1!
