Everton wing-half: Albert Virr.Albert joined EFC as an amateur. 127 appearances in the 1920s before knee problems ended his career. Eventually became headmaster at Dingle Vale School. Died suddenly in July 1959, just a day after gardening at his home in Aigburth Hall Road.

We gave this player away to Ipswich then that lot had the best years out of him - then we signed him back when he was past his best - another Everton That moment -

I used to drink with a guy who was a Burnley season ticket holder. We were having a pint when he’d just got back from the game one Saturday tea time. He said “ I’ve just seen a young lad make his debut who’ll go on the play for England “ -the lad was David Johnson.
