8th August 1970, Charity Shield, Chelsea 1 v Everton 2, Everton's Joe Royle (9) leaps to head for goal over Chelsea's David Webb (2), watched by Chelsea's Paddy Mulligan (5), and Everton's Howard Kendall

.......remember him rubbing his thumb and first finger at Gwladys St as if to say Everton wouldn't meet his pay demand. He was terrific when he came into the team but clearly became bitter with the club and fans. He apparently detested the reds so it was a real turnaround. What a bit of business Trevor Steven was.
I remember Steve McMahon and Bruce Grobbelar being asked in a TV interview in the 1980's how they felt after Liverpool had just
won the league. They had obviously been drinking and after Grobbelar said how happy he was, Steve, with a stupid grin on his face
said 'He is, but I'm not because I'm an Evertonian'.

Ha!! I wondered if you would have this one!!! I think I am a little dot just to the left of Kendall's shoulder!!!! I think this goal won a sort of goal of the season vote because it symbolised our grit and determination to force a narrow 1-0 when the fancy footy wasn't working. Royle just bundled it in from a mêlée I think. Maybe a corner. Wolves had a good defender called Parkin, blond guy who got bundled in too iirc.

saw HK come to talk to a fan about it on a pre season tour. Said McMahon didn't want to play for Everton any more so had to let him go. Rumours also it suited him to be out of Merseyside for a while but those rumours fly around every slightly surprising transfer. No reason to give it any credence. He didn't half become a mega RS though whatever his blue origins.

Found a cpl of things in loft just that I'll scan.

A 'Voucher' for an FA Cup Final Replay Ticket in '85, for some reason I didn't have 1 for the actual game though & missed out, the only 1 I missed.

A Flyer for the Everton Clubcard.

I think I might be what they call a 'Hoarder.'

Could never understand him,EFC ball boy as a kid, loved the club, then held us to ransom,we got the better of the deal as he went to Villa and we bought Tricky Trev with the money,he then signed for the RS and always ever since gives the impression he positively hates us ,I wonder why?All together,"Oh I do like to be beside the seaside";)lol
roundabout at villa might have something to do with not liking us;)
