It was going to cost too much to fix up mate, it was literally rotting away, between the salt air and the acidic smoke from the many steam trains that ran underneath parts of it…..Dockers Umbrella. Such a shame city planners didn’t have the foresight to keep it.

Ahh yes right over the road from the very very legit Georgesons motors…..Cabbage Hall Inn. I remember my own game being called off on the day of the ‘Graham Sharp goal’ Derby and dashing to this place to ask ‘any spares’. Unfortunately I didn’t get one so spent the afternoon in my mates house who lived local monitoring the score. No internet or soccer streams in those days and the pubs shut in the afternoon but we made up for it that night

Long shifts them Joe xCronton colliery pit - the pottery & Cases pub in an early Huyton Quarry - My late father worked down that pit for 15 years - My Grandad from the age of 11 to 65 years old both coal miners -
