….good point. I’ve commented in this thread about the number of kids without shoes, on the plus side they generally seemed happy despite their plight.

….Emmanuel Church was a huge building on an island in West Derby Rd, Everton. It stood near Brougham Terrance just before the Grafton. My big sister told me yesterday it was where I got baptised. This picture is from 1900 & shows the church railings and the beginning of the island;

Don’t know when that was taken, but there cannot be many roads from back in the day that are instantly recognisable today as that pic. Take the tram lines away and it’s no different from today.
