It's a tad early for people to discuss this year's spending when they haven't kicked a ball.
Not really. They haven't had CL football in ages and have continued to spend enormous amounts of money.
They've won cups recently and have been in/around the top 4/6 (or at least thereabouts) consistently for about since their last title.
We've spent the same amount of money and were 5 mins from being relegated.

Agree x100. Having a 2nd left back is far from a priority for our limited resources, and if its a midfield role we had in mind, surely there must be at least one better option in world football than a guy who plays there about 5 times a year in internationals only.
No doubt in my mind most of his minutes at Arsenal will be filling in for the injury-prone Tierney who you can barely get 3 games in a row out of. Understandable signing for legohead in that regard, even if they did pay about twice his real value a-la Ben White.

I believe he could have been a decent midfielder for us. He passes the ball well, which most of our players don’t. If we don’t sign any more midfielders, we either need youngsters to emerge, or we are in for another long season. As it stands I would play Gordon on the wing and Iwobi in the centre. (terrible as a winger, but can actually create from more central) Beyond those 2, I am struggling for players who I think are good enough to not be in a relegation battle.
But ,But there Yanks they don't spend money on the team ,same as Man United and Chelsea we were told.

Yeah, looking at that list the two highest spending teams by far have american owners, and 4 of the 6 highest are majority owned by americans.
